Tons of exciting new restaurants have opened recently in the 925, and we’ve been along for the ride to report on, taste, and review them!
Today, we’re rounding up 10 of the most exciting (and delicious) new restaurants that have opened recently here in our little corner of the East Bay.
Enjoy!
10. Crumbs

Crumbs, with a location in Danville and a new spot in Pleasant Hill, is a popular brunch spot known for its delicious food and quirky interior design.
The Danville location is particularly charming, with a ceiling adorned with inverted umbrellas. While Crumbs offers a delightful brunch experience, its menu is relatively traditional, landing it in the tenth spot on our list. Â
9. Breakfast Club at Midtown

Looking for a classy breakfast experience? Breakfast Club at Midtown in Lafayette delivers. This upscale restaurant boasts an extensive menu with everything from eggs benedict and fancy omelets to breakfast cocktails. They even have a pancake that’s as big as your head, complete with a smiling face made of fruit! Just be prepared for a slightly higher price tag – a basic breakfast will set you back around $17.
8. Handel’s Ice Cream

Step back in time at Handel’s Ice Cream in Walnut Creek, where classic, homemade ice cream reigns supreme. Founded in 1945, Handel’s offers a staggering selection of almost 50 flavors, all made fresh daily using Alice Handel’s original recipes. They even have vegan options! While the ice cream is undeniably delicious, the lack of seating might leave you wanting more.
Here’s our full review of Handels.
7. Marvel Cake

Prepare to be amazed by Marvel Cake in Walnut Creek, a gourmet cake shop that’s a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Founded by Maryam Menbari, this shop specializes in high-end pastries and custom-designed cakes for any occasion.
From Opera Classic and Mango Passion Fruit Tart to Tiramisu and custom creations, Marvel Cake uses only the finest ingredients, like Belgian chocolate and fresh fruit. And don’t forget the packaging – it’s as elegant as the cakes themselves, reflecting the shop’s commitment to a luxurious experience.
6. Headlands Walnut Creek

Escape to a beer garden oasis at Headlands Walnut Creek. Right by the Pleasant Hill BART station, this new location of Lafayette’s popular brewery includes a full menu, as well as an outdoor beer garden.

5. Tam Tam Rice

Experience Vietnamese cuisine like never before at Tam Tam Rice, a pop-up in Lafayette created by Chef Tue Nguyen. This temporary establishment offers a unique opportunity to explore innovative Vietnamese dishes with a modern twist.
Tam Tam Rice focuses on Vietnamese street food, and specifically “broken” rice bowls. We tested the food and it’s delicious!
4. Sipeos

Sipeos in Walnut Creek is a pioneer in the Bay Area, offering a sophisticated social space for those who choose to abstain from alcohol. Tired of sugary mocktails?
Sipeos offers a curated selection of handcrafted non-alcoholic and low-ABV cocktails, along with a California-Mediterranean-inspired menu. This unique concept caters to a growing demand for alcohol-free options, making Sipeos a truly exciting addition to the Bay Area’s dining scene. Â
3. Tanoshi Sushi

Multiple readers wrote in to tell us about this new sushi place in Walnut Creek! People praised the tasty fish, nice interior, casual feel, and easy parking.
Here’s more, as well as where to find this restaurant (which some people find confusing).
2. The Royale

The Royale is near the top of our list because it’s so new, and also a little mysterious. The restaurant opened to little fanfare, yet it has a gorgeous interior and very classy, fusion-style breakfast items.
Multiple locals told us they already love it. We stopped by to take a look–here’s more info.
1. Horn BBQ

Rising from the ashes, Horn BBQ in Lafayette has taken the Bay Area by storm. This acclaimed barbecue joint had to relocate after a fire, but its triumphant return has only solidified its status as a culinary legend.
With lines often stretching around the block, Horn BBQ is known for its expertly smoked meats and authentic flavors, deeply rooted in the American South and its connection to African-American barbecue culture. Be prepared to wait, but trust us, the barbecue at Horn BBQ is life-changing, once you get in the door.
I waited 75 minutes in the rain to get in. Here’s my review.
